Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races. 

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

Couldn't run at noon as we had meetings.  It was around -2 at 6:00 in the afternoon, so Claire and I went down to the Smithfield Rec Center and ran.  8.75 miles on a treadmill in 1 hour.  6:51/mile pace.

6 miles with a co-worker.  A little warmer--a whopping 9 degrees.  Nice pretty sunny day.  Ran somewhere around 7:40/mile AP.

Dropped a car off to get its tires rotated.  In the mean time I ran a nice easy 6 miles.  Still way too cold.  Getting tired of it.

Went down and watched Conner run at the Weber State University Invitational for High School.  In between his events I was able to do a little running - 6 miles on an indoor track, 2 on a treadmill.
