Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races.

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

10 miles in North Logan at noon.  Good out and back.  First time running with a short sleeve shirt since the fall.  Felt good.  My knee was a little sore but not too bad.  7:18/mile AP.

20 miles up and down Smithfield Canyon twice. First 10 I ran on my own. Good even pace at 7:32/mile AP. A little cold, but not that bad. Didn't want to push it too hard so my knee will heal up a little.

When I got back home I repeated it with Claire. Conner ran the first 3.5 miles with us. We did a nice easy pace. The winds started up and we had a strong head wind going up the canyon, and then it changed and we had another head wind going back down. The wind made it a lot colder the second time around. 8:22/mile pace on the 2nd 10. Overall 7:57/mile AP for the 20. Good easy run.
