Personal:
I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005. I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running. He said "You'll never run again.". What a challenge! So...I started running.
Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races.
I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all. I'm not fast. I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.
Wasn't motivated to run today, but a co-worker called and wanted to go running at noon. To get out of the bad air with the inversion and all we drove up Logan canyon and did 5 miles at a 7:01/mile AP. Good run, felt great afterwards.

Rob,
Wow! I think that is faster than what you have been running of late. Nice miles. I know - still Easy miles, but on the harder side of Easy (at least according to my calculations where I have your marathon pace being 6:49).

Yeah, it was a good jog. It was nice to be out of the cold and the pollution up in the canyon. Went with a friend/co-worker who really doesn't do much long distance running more than 5K's. He's pretty fast on the shorter distances.
