Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races.

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

10 miles during lunch in North Logan.  Nice easy "recovery" run after the weekend.  Felt good, did a few miles at a little faster pace and took the others nice and slow.  It was around 82 degrees--a little hot for me, but it felt good.  7:36/mile AP.

10 Miles in North Logan at 1:00.  85 degrees (hot for me).  Today was one of those infamous days where you feel like you are really pushing it, your legs even feel like they are moving fast, but you are going a lot slower than you feel.  Still it was a good jog.  7:39/mile AP.

15 miles in Smithfield, partially up Smithfield Canyon and back. Got up about 5:30, helped the kids with the paper route, and then went out for my run. Right after I left it started pouring. I was totally soaked by the time I hit mile 2--shoes were sloshing. The rain and everything slowed me down a bit, so I had a nice easy run. Probably a really good thing since I am starting to taper a little for the Top of Utah in two weeks. Averaged Somewhere around an 8 min. mile. My legs feeling a bit beat up...nice to start the tapering... :-).

After the run, I went to the Utah State Cross Country invitational with Conner. Never seen a college XC race before...fun to watch it.
