Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races.

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

Woke up and rolled Conner's newspapers for him since he had a track meet and was tired.  Afterwards, drove up Smithfield Canyon to place some water bottles.

Ran from Smithfield, down to Hyde Park, up past Sky View High School, up Smithfield Canyon to the campgrounds and back down.  Then ran on the road between Smithfield and Hyde Park and back to Sky View. Good run.  Didn't really push it and felt good afterwards.  7:44/mile AP.

Made to Sky View in time to see Conner run the 3200 and break the Sky View record (held for 29 years).

Really an incredible run for Conner today. 9:29 at altitude at his age is no joke. He's already a superstar, I'm excited to continue to follow his career. I love his attitude and the way he races aggressively. You have a lot to be proud of!

Thanks Jake. Conner is a fun kid and is having a lot of fun running. He looks up to all of you guys on the blog.

Also, great job on the Boston! Running in that heat is tough. Congrats! I enjoyed reading your race report.
