Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races. 

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

On a different note, I registered for the St. George Marathon today.  Finaly have some sights on an actual race.  This means that I'd better START training :-)

Noon:  8 miles around North Logan.  First 5 with Brent, then did another 3.

PM:  4 miles in Smithfield/Smithfield Canyon.  Thought I'd get some fast miles in, but right after I started my stomach started doing flip-flops, so I slowed way down.  Just before I hit the turn around point I met Conner coming down Smithfield Canyon.  He turned around and went with me about 2.1 miles to home.  Good cool-down for him.

I can feel the increase in miles.  This morning I weighed in at 214.  After the run this afternoon I was at 208.4.  Pretty dehydrated.  Drank a lot afterwards...got to drink more during the day.
