Personal:

I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005.  I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running.  He said "You'll never run again.".  What a challenge!  So...I started running.

Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races. 

I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all.  I'm not fast.  I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

A good run at noon in North Logan.  A loop up around the NFS building at USU and back.  Good good hilly run.  A bit windy and started snowing about at mile 2 and kept snowin the whole way, but it wasn't that cold and went well.  My back is finally starting to feel a little better.  7:28/mile AP.

12 miles up and down Smithfield Canyon at 4:00 in the afternoon.  Great weather. Ate a little too close to the run (homemade tortilla chips and salsa--oops!) so the first three to four miles were slow and easy working things down :-).  Then sped up to a good pace.  Finished up right at a 8:00/mile AP.

Went to long beach in the morning with Claire and ran 10 miles on the beach while Conner was resting in the hotel getting ready for his race.  Fun easy run.  Later on I ran a little more, then Conner and I jogged about 1.5 miles back to the motel after his race.  Fun day.
